LARGE TARTY ABOARD. (by telegraph—mess association.) Nelson, December 2. 1 The Chiof Postmaster lias received tho 1 appended telegram from the postmaster at I Taltnlca, who is in telephonic communication j with tho lighthouse at Farewell Spit:— " A motor yacht left Collingwood-for Fare- ' well Spit lighthouse at 5 a.m. yesterday, ! with eighteen passengers and crow aboard, j including Mr. Jiean, postmaster at Colling- , wood, his son, and a ciidot named Robins. "it was intended by the throo named to i land at tho lighthouse, and tho rest warp, to i go fishing. Tho yacht went aground nt tho ' lighthouse (this part of tho telegram is not ' clear). At 11 p.m. they went aboard her. ' She was at anchor at 8 o'clock this morning, ! but at 9 a.m. the Farewell Spit lighthouse- , keeper looked for her and could not see any sign of hor whereabouts. ' ] "It was blowing a heavy gale from tho i northward at tho Spit." Orders have been sent to the Tnkaka postmaster to take charge at Collingwood, and 1 if there are no further developments by tonight, Mr. Semi, Chief Postmaster, nnrj two officials will go there. Tho motor launch was either swamped or driven out to soa. It is , hoped she may be sheltering somewhere, ■ but grave , anxiety io felt for her fato. i
