Misses Van Staveren and Roberts had a very close game with Mesdames Goldie and Bell, who were only beaten,. 7—6. 11l the Cup contest Khandallah had a great win against Victoria College, 13 sets to nil. Fair put up the best fight in the singles against. Richardson, and' Misses M'Kellar and M'lntosh, although .beaten in the singles, gavo, Jlrs. Cock and. Batham all they wanted in the doubles.. ::
Petono added another win to its number by beating Newtown by 11 sets to 2. Sheppard and Corneal had a long' cvcii game, just ending in favour of Petono.' Hutson, Murray, and Powell were responsible for the two matches that-wont;to'Newtown. The Petone ladies played very well, not losing a match. :r .v

In the doubles Misses Thompson- and Smythn gnvo a very good account of themselves by defeating Mrs. How.o'and Miss Webb, 7—4.

Johnsonvillo ran the Brougham "B" team pretty close, and although..beaten 5 sets to 2, the losers had 41. games to their' credit, against the winning team's 30. .

The Wellington Provincial Association has boon doing its best to secure some suitable ground for courts within easy distance of the city. During tho week : representatives of the Association Mud some members of the City Council Reserves Committee, accompanied by tho City JKnpince'r, have been inspecting a pieco of" land iir Riissell' Terrace that would givo accommodation for twelve courts. This ground is thought to bo more suitable for the purpose than'tho Botanical Gardens ground.;: The Association : having grasped the fact that tennis players must ho catored for, are endeavouring to get both tiio sites mentioned.,,...
