NATAL'S DANGER.
A BOLD RESOIYE. DINIZULU TO BE BROUGHT*TO THE CAPITAL. FORCE MAY BE USED. BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPrRIGHT. (Rec. Nov. 29, 10.33 p.m.) Durban, November 29. It is tho intention of the Natal Government that Dinizulu, the paramount chief of tho Zulus, who is suspected of disloyalty, shall be. brought to Pietermaritzburg. If neccssary, force will bo used. This intention, if persisted in, would seem to spell something very like war. Dinizulu, the son of Cetewayo, still holds a great power among the Zulus, and i! lias never been doubted that lie eould raise a rebellion if lie chose; in fact, the fear has been of his doing so surreptitiously, without heading it. Dinizulu has considerable education, and is believed to he no mean diplomatist. On January 12, the then Governor of Natal, Sir Henry M'Calluni. now Governor of Ceylon, protested'against the undue expression of proZulu sympathies at Home, as having ii disturbing effect on the native mind. He telegraphed to Lord Elgin, Secretary of State for the Colonies:—"Persistent reports are now circulating in Zululaud and Natiil amongst tho natives there bv those who have been released, that all rebels are about to be released in consequence of an order received from across the sea, to the elfeet that thy Home Government has told this Government that the rebels were only soldiers acting under orders of...their chiefs, and thev should not, therefore,. linve been punished." No more dangerous course, therefore, eould bo pursued by Ministers than the adoption of any act which would give the least ground for cultivating so pernicious a belief in the native ihiud, whether that mind b» loval or wicked." ; The Governor's concluding telegram to the Secretary or State stated that he was leaving the colony with native matters in a satisfactory state.
