AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

. PRINCIPAL PRIZE-WINNERS. [Nx TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, November 29. 1 Tho Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Show, which was opened by the Hon. George Fowlds to-day, was largely attended. Horses were well represented, except in thoroughbred stock. Draught stallions wore small in number, but the quality was well represented, amongst them being -Marcellus, by Knight of the Thistle dam Lady Erskine, which took the championship honours at Mastorton and WnikatOi- Marcellus won the first - prize in his class, and also the championship. There was a. good, show of cattle, shorthorns being well represented, in which class Mr.. William Taylor, of was tho largest exhibitor with twenty-three entries. In the two-year-old .bull class, Mr. Taylor was successful with- Baron Rose 111, tho , animal which lie recently imported from the South; after winning in a field of thirty at the Christchurch Exhibition as a yearling. Baron Roso 111. is a typical shorthorn, and was bred by the late Archdeacon Williams, of Napior. The' championship prize in the Jersey section was awarded to Willis Bros.' aged bull Fitzwilliam, making this sire's sixth successive annexation of tho champion riband. The champion Jersey cow, Gold Leaf, was picked out from a very fine class of milkers, and is owned by Mr. E. D. M'Lennan, tho well-known Jersey breeder. The feature of the exhibits of sheep at this show is that a number ,of fresh names aro showing, thus improving-'tho competition. Messrs. Slack Bros., of Palmorstori North, well-known prizetakers in tho south, show Border Leicesters, and Mr. Ernest Short, of Feilding, exhibits his imported Romnoy rams, which cost 300 guineas. Mr. George Chamberlain, of Ponui Island, is the sole exhibitor of morinos, there being only four classes. The entries of both Romnoy Marsh sheep and of Shropshire Downs aro numerous. The Department if Agriculture also show for exhibition only two pons of Ryeland, sheep. Tho exhibits of dairy produce aro well up to tho mark, and there ,is a splendid .show of machinery. The following championships were awarded: — Draught horses—Entire, Taylor's Marccllous; inaro, William Taylor's Sylvia; hunters, W. limes Taylor's Pirate; sheep—Lincoln ram, E. Darriball (Waiului); Lincoln ewe. ill. Barriball; Border Leicester ram, Slack Bros. (Palmerston North); Border Leicester cwo, W. Taylor (To Awamutu); Romnoy Marsh rain, E.
