The Anchor liner Wavorley, which arrived at Wellington yesterday, reported having passed the barque Daniel 'near Toms Rock. The Daniel has a cargo of hardwood, and hails from Clarencetown. CHANGES OF OFFICERS. Mr. G. S. Strange, late third officer of the s.s. Komata, who resigned while in Australia, to join the Astoria as chief inato, is succeeded by Mr. 11. G. Foster, lato fourth of tho s.s. Moeraki. ' Mr. P. S. Petersen, lato third of the s.s. Kaituna, joins tho s.s. Moeraki as fourth officer. WELLINGTON-LYTTELTON FERRY SERVICE. Tho Union Company advise that the Mararoa will be docked at Lyttelton to-day. Sho will leave that port on Saturday, for Wellington, taking up the turbine steamor Maori's running. bo as to enable her to be docked. UNION CO. MOVEMENTS. The Tayiuni is expected to leave Greyinouth for Wellington to-morrow. The Mapourika wns expected to leave Greymoutli yesterday for Wellington, via way ports. The Koonya was also timed to sail from Greymoutli for New Plymouth and Onchnnga yesterday. The Knmona leaves Hobart to-morrow for New Plymouth, Wellington, and Dunedin. The Whangape loads in the south for Napier, Gisborno, and Auckland. She will leave Port Chalmers on December 5, Oamaru December G, and Timaru on December 7 for the above ports. THE RIVER BOYNE. '•■ •■ '■' The Sydney "Commercial News" reports that the well-known barquentine River. Boyno has been purchased by Messrs. J. Patterson and Son, of Melbourne. It is their intention to convert the 'vessel into a coal hulk, after her next trip to New Zealand. The River Bovine was for a number of years engaged in the Now Zealand-Newcastle coal trade, and also the timber trade. Her last visit to Wellington was on August 18, when she arrived from. 'Newcastle with a cargo of coal. She sailed from Wellington on September 3, for Greymoutb, Captain Ernest Elbe being then master. The vessel was built by Messrs. pobio and Co., of Glasgow, in 181i7, her dimensions being 154 ft. x 28ft. x 17ft. The price paid for the River Boyiie has. not yet transpired.. . " . It lists been decided to withdraw the Oonah from the Sydney-Hobart trade, and, after she receives a thorough overhaul at Melbourne, place her in the Tasmanian North-Coast-Melbourno trade in place of the Flora, while the Alararoa will take up' the running of the Oonah between Sydney aiul Hobart, and leaves Sydney oh her first trip on November 25.
