Civil Service junior examination, which is used also as the examination for ■junior national • scholarship continuation, for Education Board, senior' scholarships , ,, for senior free places in,secondary.'schools and district -high schools, and for, first examination of pupil-teachers.' The.largest, entry is from- Auckland,- .where ,-it,;,ie.'. found necessary' to- examine.boys and girls ini separate buildings, owing to the la,rge'-number .entering. In all the: Department's exatninatioha Auckland has' by far , the biggest■ entry, ; one explanation- being! that there are 'in.that city an unusually large number of free place candidates.' For the Civil Service junior examination 435 candidates will sit in Auckland, 208 in Wellington, 193 in Christchurch,and 273 in Dunedin.; Among lesser No.rtk Island'toVns Mnsterton:. has.. 43 candidates, and .PalmerEtbn North 66.
