Allegations mado against Presbyterian missionaries in the Now Hebrides by Sir E. V. im Thurn, High Commissioner of the Westorn Pacific —to tho general effect that tho missionaries resent lay_ govornincnt, and areapparently anxious to control the Islands themselves —have been answered in a lengthy letter which tho Foreign Missions Committee ( of tho Church has requested ] Mr. Dcakin (Federal Prime Minister) to for- ( ward to the Secretary of State for the Colonies.' , ( Tho committee assorts that tho missionaries , have tried to strengthen tho bonds between | Australia and tho Now Hebrides, and urges i tho Secretary for the Colonies to thoroughly | investigate the High Commissioner's charges. ■
