CRICKET.
WEDNESDAY COMPETITION. The Wednesday players were favoured with porfect weather for their matches yesterday. Both senior games were disappointing, and resulted in easy victories for Union and George and George respectively. Details of the play are as follow: — UNION v. ORIENTAL. The Union v.'Oriontal game resulted in an easy win for Union by an innings am} 45 runs. Oriental only made 109 in their first innings, and oil following 011 wore all disposed of for d 4. Little, who made 44, was the only Oriental man to make a decided stand in the ftrsD innings, although A. Moore (17 not out), and Truscott (15) helped the score along. In the Oriental second innings A. Moore (16),. and C. Laurenson (26) wore the only hatsmeii to reach double figures. GEORGE AND GEORGE v. RIVALS. The George and George-Rivals fixture resulted in an easy victory for the former. Rivals made 139 in their first innings,, and had to follow on. In,the second turn at the wickets the batsmen failed miserably, and the innings closed for 29, leaving George and George winners by an innings and 79 runs.
