On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Climie gave a tennis party at her homo at tlio hutt, when a large number of young people were present. Tlio beautiful trees and slirubs on the hillsido were looking their best, and the tonnis court-above was in perfect condition. Afternoon tea was served from a marquee erected by the court. Mrs. Climio wore a black skirt and floral silk blouse, and Miss Climio was in a pretty white muslin frock. White was tlio favourite wear for the younger quests, who all appeared in very summery frocks. Among the guests wero Mrs. Poster and Mrs. Callender, Misses Foster, Jackson, liotlmin, Callender, Hayward, Tr'cadwcll, Johnston, and Allnort, Messrs. Strauchon, Callender, Hayward, Russell, Marshall,: Leo, and Foster.

At All Saints' Church, Palmerston North, last week, Mr. John Henry Graham, son of Mr. John Hugh Graham, of Elphinston Barracks, Plymouth, England, was married to Miss Ada Jane, Stevens, third daughter of Mr. Phillip Stevens, -'Silver Rest," Milson's Line. The Rev. G. B. Stephenson performod the ceremony. The bride was attended by four bridesmaids, Misses Stevens, Attwood, Clara Stevens, and Daisy Curtis. Mr. H. Stevens acted as best man, and Mr. E. Stevens as groomsman. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a .gown of rich white silk, covered with embroidered chiffon and silk lace. Slio wore a veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The bridesmaids wore pretty frocks of cream silk, trimmed with lace, and white straw hats trimmed with roses and white feathers. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the residence of the bride's parents.

Ihe annual meeting-of the Girls' Association was held in W.C.T.U. room on Monday afternoon, when the report and balance-sheet were road. The report shoved tliat classes had been held twice each week during the past year for girls; the attendance had been .good, from fourteen to twenty-two.attending .nightly. The treasurer, reported a credit balance. The following were the officers elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mrs: Boxall; vice-presidents, Lady Stout and Mrs. James; hon. secretary, Miss Kemp; hon. treasurer, Miss Lewis; hon treasurer, building fund, Rev. W. Shirer. There was a social gathering' in the Girls' Association room, in, ;tho evening, when a varied pro-grammes-'was gone through.

Mrs. Walter T. Rutherford, of Mossdale, Waiau, died yesterday morning after a long and painful illness. Mrs. Rutherford was ono of the successful exhibitors in'thp art section of the late International Exhibition, securing a gold medal for her painting of Lake Tekapo.
