ARBITRATION COURT.

SITTING AT/ PAMERSTON.

Pai.mkuston North, November 26. The Arbitration Court sat to-day, Mr. Jusr tice Sim presiding. A fine of ,£1 was inflicted on' Messrs. Sollitt Bros., for having employed n carpenter at loss than the minimum wage. Rasmus P. Jensen was fined .£2 for employing a driver at less than the minimum wage.'For employing a non-iinion driver, S. C. Lane, was fined JE2 and costs. Arthur 13e Luen, for employing two journeymen tailors and paying weekly wages, when no piece-workers l wcreerhployed. was fined £2 on each of the charges. J. Merryless and J. May, for accepting weekly wages from the above, were fined 10s. A. W. Bradley, of Pox ton, for employing a female apprentice at a time when there were no piece-workers employed, was fined £2 and costs. The Maunder Manufacturing Company was fined £2 and costs, for employing a journeyman joiner and paying jess than the Award. M. H. Lawson, for accepting loss wages from the above, was fined 10s. A fine of £2 was imposed on the Mnnawatu Fibre Company, for employing a mail'at less than the union wage. 1 The typographical dispute was concluded; Mr. M'Doußull appeared for the Union, and Mr. Fred l'irani for the employers. Evidence was fiiveu by D. Stewart, simplex expert, and' Mr. M'Dougall addressed the Court briefly on bohalf of the Union. Mr. Fred Pirani 'suggested a compromise- : by which tho Award should be based, on that fixed for Canterbury, (country), except that thero should be a brevier standard of efficiency, as well as a minion standard; that tho simplex award should be .£2 15s. for 5000; that the monolino should be .£3 for .1000: and the monotype £3 l(k and ,£3 IGs. for COOO, uncorrocted." This completed the ease.
