A Southland travelling pressman yesterday dropped across a littlo tale of youthful adventure cut short (says' Wednesday's "Times").- So far as could be gathered from remarks overheard, a -Duncdin lad and a mate made up a ticket "on Tattcrsall's." Tho.v struck a £100 prize, and divided tho money. Tho hero of this- tale decided to speiid his £50 "short and good," without the"knowledge of his parents.' Twenty, pounds or so was invested in the purchase of a motor bicycle, and then .the lad decided be a tourist for a space. He accordingly bought a steerage tickot for tho round trip and without his parents' knowledge, boarded the Warrimoo. His father got wind of his hopeful plans, but was too lato to catch him before tne Warrimoo sailed. Consequently tho assistance of the Southern policc was invited, and tho fifteen-yenr-old capitalist flushed his travels at the Bluff. So far ns the pressman was concerned, the story ended happily in the meeting of an anxious parent with a badly-scared youngster on arrival of the late express yesterday even- •- . v.!/!" * j, 4. . .. •-«
