Alr. ! E. D. M'Lennan, of Capakura, Auckland, who was judging, at the Wairarapa Show*,, has purchased one of Mr. E- Eagle, jun.'s Jersey M.H.R. bull calves for fifteen guineas. Mr. Eagle is the principal Jersey breeder, of .the Wairarapa. •': : lt js generally understood, writes our Wairarapa correspondent, that there is no cure for silver blight, n pest which attacks fruit and other trees. Mr. W. J. Lindop, a Carterton resident, affirms, however, that this'blight can.be eradicated, and.in proof of this .statement he mentions that a laurelstinus hedge, of his, badly affected with. the pest, was.cured by the repeated application :of a solution owned by Messrs. Gibbons and Company, Wellington. Mr. Lindop used the -application,last winter, and this season his ■hedge'is quite clean. '■
