L. - 'Cropp were encored for their vocal items;-and-ine; audience-was loath to allow Mr.'Harry-Linden,-the, witty vocal comic, to retire. The-Valdenes performed a numbor of exceedingly .daring feats on- a; cycle, introducing several new, pricks.' The fireworks proved a great draw, and they wera indeed well worth the seeing, some of the sot pieces being greeted with loud rounds of applause. All the side-shows-were well patronised, and Wonderland has undoubtedly conic to stay. It is rumoured that a big show is to be worked up for the near future, particulars of, which will appear,, later. The Wellington Society of Professional Musicians held its second social evening in the Bowen Saturday eveiifhg last, Mr.-Mauijlian.Ba'rnctt presiding. A paper by Mr. Lawrenco Watkins, on "Some types of Pupils and their Treatment," caused some discussion and a flow of reminiscences. A short programme of musical items included vocal; solos by Madame Eveleen Carlton, Miss Eva Hash, and Mr. Handley Wills, and pianoforte solos by Misses Simpson and Harte. "DR. BILL." - Tho popular and clever comedy "Dr. Bill" is to be staged at tho Oponi House on Thursday next, by Mr. Charles' Blake, assisted by a number of talented amateurs who have been assiduously, rehearsing, for.. somo weeks past. Tho following will be the caste of characters: —Mrs. Horton, Miss Mollio Marshall; Mrs. Firman, Miss E. Gurney; Louisa Brown, Miss M. Bedford; Jennie Firmnn, Miss E. Andrews; Nellio Fauntleroy, Miss Myrtle Philp; Ellon, Miss A. Turner; Mr. Firman, Mr. Norman Aitken; Mr. Horton, Mr. Dennis Kelly; George Webster, Mr. Frank Miller; Baggs, Mr. Edward 11. Scott; Inspector Jones, Mr. J. Howard; and Dr. Bill, Mr. Charles Blake; Mr. J. Howard will stage-manage, and Mr. S. Cimiuo will conduct tho orchestra. Mr. H. Mr. M.'Marcus .arrived; oh Saturday night from Auckland, for- the forthcoming season of Mr. Allan Hamilton's' now' dramatic company, commencing,on Tuesday,'. November 2fi, at the Opera House, when this'combination will present, for tho first timo, in Wellington, Frank' Linao's powerful domestic drama "Home, Sweet Home." Mr. Marcus reports that the Company has done excellent business- throughout the North. The Petono Citizons' Brass Baud marched .nlong Jackson Street to'the Drill Hall and played several items outside. The business was as keen as on the previous evenings, and the takings so far are oolisidorably over ,£IOO. There was no charge for , admission on Saturday afternoon.
