Donne, of tho Tourist Department, returned from Rotorua on Saturday ovening. Word was received,,by cable v on Saturday that Mr. Duncan Stout, aon of Sir Robert Stout, who is studyitig at Guy's Hospital,' London, had passed the primary examination for the Fellowship of, the Roy a) College of Surgeons. This is a considerable achievement, as it is only three months, since Mr. Stout passed his intermediate examination. It is said that a candidate rarely passes the present examination at the. first attempt, aa Mr. Stout has done. '' ; ' '

Mr. "Hoy' 1 Widdop, - brother of Mr. J. Widdop, of Wellington, \\ho has been away from New Zealand', for .; over/nino years, returned to Wellington..this week. Mr. Widdop joined the British'A r:ny wbon at Homo/ and has since, served-nt Gibraltar and in India, Mr, Widdop will bo remembered a* U\ft possessor,of a cultured baritone voice, and should pwvo a welcome addition to Wellington's scroll of vocalists.
