PACKET LICENSES BILL.
The' Packet Licenses Bill authorises the owner, instead of the master, of a vessel- (as formerly) to sell liquor. The Governor may from time to time, by Order-in-Council, .make regulations restricting to certain classes of vossels , the granting of. packet licenses under tho principal Act, and all" such" regulations shall, when gazetted, have tho force of law. Tho following provisions shall bo applicable in tho caso of any vessel in respect of which a packet license has been granted under- tho principal Act, whether before or after the passing of this Act:— No liquor shall be sold, supplied, or given on board any such vessel by any person to a passengor already in a state of intoxication. No liquor shall bo sold, supplied, or given on hoard any such vessel by any person to any officer or member of the crow of such vessel without tho written authority of tho master. No passenger shall, on board any such vessel, offer, give, or supply any liquor to tho master, or to any officer or member of the crow of such vessel. Any person committing a breach,of any of the provisions of this section shall bo liablo to a fine.not exceeding £20; and if tho qffenco is committed by nriy servant of the licenseo, tho licenso'o shall bo deemed gnilty of tho like offenco and shall bo liablo to tho liko fine.
