LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION.
Thero was a large attendance at the monthly • meeting of ■ the ' Wellington branch oi the IXiberal and Labour Federation, held 'in- God'ier's rooms, Cuba Street, last evening. In the ';absence of: the "chairman,* Mr. W. M'Lean was j,voted t0... the chair. The Hon. CM. Luke, u.-who was to* have given an address, was, kept by parliamentary duties, but. Mr. J. E.., 7j i'itzgerald, of Kaiwarra, gave an address on ■.the subject of .compulsory arbitration. Ho I denied that industrial arbitration in this :country had been a failure, and stated, as a : ( j>roof of its success, that in 1905 thero were disputes/filed for settlement, and in 1906 319 more than six. He said that statistics .showed that the output of the workers of New jZealand was equal to the output of the same,' -.number of workers in any country in the ■world. ; He also enlarged on the benefits which had followed from the arbitration system.
