At: a meeting of the Auckland Methodist Ministers Association Use following resolution ivas carried:—" That this meeting strongly approve:- of the provisions of tho Bill for the suppression of gaming houses, and for the prohibition of wagering in the public streets, or> in sports grounds, and in factories, - but regrets that tho Government proposes to continue the legalisation of tho totalisator, and to license bookmakers on racecourses, as this is giving a national sanction to an evil, the extreme gravity of which is proved by the present drastic proposals of tho Priino Minister." It was decided to forward copies of the resolution to tho Premier, and to tho members of the llouso of Representatives for Auckland City and suburbs.
