Mr. Justice Grantham, at tho Sussex Assizes, sentenced Forrari, alias Miller, to five years' penal servitude on a chargo of burglary, and ordered that, on tho expiry of his sentence; prisoner bo deported to Italy. Ferrari was a partner with Charles Smith and Chicago May, - of Guorin case fame. Smith used Forrari , s revolver to shoot Guerin. •
Edward Guorin and "Chicago May" (May Vivienno Churchill) wcro lovers and . fellow criminals. Guerin was sentenced in Franco to fivo years' imprisonment for burglary, and waa sent to Devil's Island, but escaped from thoro to England, where he resumed his relations with "Chicago May." Thoy cinarrelled, and it is alleged that the woman, in revenge, "gave Guoriu. away" to tho police, and ho was arrested on a French warrant. The extradition 'proceedings failed, however, to; satisfy tho English courts, and i Guerin was released. All thievedom then expected trouble between the parties, but Charles ■ Smith, described as a tinsmith, who had exposed "Chicago May's" cause, "got in first," and shot Guerin in tho heel, using, it now appears, a revolver owned by Ferrari. , The latter,, was mentioned incidentally in the case by a female witness who opined that he really enjoyed far moro of "Chicago May's" affections than Smith did. Guorin gavo evidence against the woman and Smith; tho latter was sentenced by Mr. Justico Darling to penal servitude for life, "Chicago May" to fifteen years.
