THE BREED ASSOCIATIONS.
SHOULD BE BETTER RECOGNISED. AJT APPEAL TO A. AND V. ASSOCIATIONS. Mr. A. Buchanan, of Palmerston North, considers that in connection with tho principal shows of tho country the various breed associations ought to bo better recognised and assisted. "I should," he said to a Dominion representative, "liko the Press generally to tako notice of this, that at all the high-class shows of such a character as thoso of Christchurchy Manawatu, , Dunodin, and Auckland, it is highly desirable for the associations to recognise tho breed associations by refusing to allow animals to compete in tho "purebred" classes unless, registered or accepted as eligible for registration when old enough. Auctioneers often advertise sales of "purebred cattle" when really the stock under salo is cross-bred. Fortunately farmers in many districts now demand to havo proof of registration beforo they will buy. Registration costs only about ss. for a cow and 10s. for a- bull—lia!f : prico for members — so. that there is ho excuse for non-registration.'
