KILLED BY AN EXPLOSION.

An adjourned inquest touching tho death of Mr. F. W. Barrett, journalist, Levin, who succumbed at tho hospital last Friday 33 a result of injuries sustained through an oxplosion of acetylene gas at his residence several months ago, was held yesterday afternoon before Mr. J. Ashcroft (District Coronor). Mrs. Barrett deposed that- deceased went to placo some carbide in tho generator, and, as ho did not return sho went out to ascertain tho cause of his prolonged absence Deceased was lying with his head severely battered, and tho generator house was in flames. There was nothing to show the causo of tho explosion. Deceased had neither matches nor pipe in his possession at tho lime of the accident. Sub-Impcctor O'Donovau Baid tho police had made evory enquiry, but could bring no further evidence The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death," no blamo being attachable to anyone.
