What is believed to be a record haß (savs the "Daily Mail") boon made on. the Beckonham club's course by-.'tt. H- Home, the local professional. Homo was playing aftho lime with Mr. Potter, a member of the club, and the shot was made from the twelfth tee, over level ground. .Mr. hotter marked the spot whore the ball stopped, and the drivo, on being subsequently measured, was found to bo 3SI yards m length. A bunker situate 250 yards from .tins tea was carried with the shot. There was a following wind, but it was slight. . lho longest known drive prior to that under notice was made by Mr. Edward Blackwell in 1892, when, with a gutta percha ball; ho drove JoO yards from the 17th tee at St. Andrew's. Mr. W. J. Travis is said to have driven * 371 yards in America, but the statement has. never been authenticated. '
