Rout, of Christchurch, has exhibited at tho Exhibition of "Women's Work in Melbourno are not surprised at tho report of her success, which was cabled.yesterday. Miss Rout is a* very clever typiste, and with a machine which writes in several colours sho prints booklets, extracts from favourite authors, or single pooms, which she afterwards binds in the style of tho well-known Roycroft books. Blanco White's beautiful sonnet "Night," for instance, has been printed as a booklet in pnrplo letters, with red initials, on art paper. Quite lately ono of the leading Christchurch booksellers had his window filled with these vory artistic books and booklets of Miss Rout's design and workmanship, which were quickly bought by booklovers.

Nurso Sims has resigned hor position as matron of the Mount. View Mental Hospital. Mrs., Tanner will bo the guest of Mrs. Brandon, Hobson Street, until Thursday week, when she will leave for England. Mrs.- Mason and Miss Fanny Cargill, of Dunedin, left. England last month to return to Now Zealand, via, Canada, and purposed staying on their way at Quebec, a city whoso picturesque charm 'had fascinated them as they passed through on their way to Eng•lf.nd. Duncan, Hobson Street, is giving an "At Homo " on Friday, at 11 a.m., as a farowell to Mrs. Wallis. ' ' Tho sum of about £60 was taken at the recent sale of work in connection with St. Anne's Anglican Church, Northland. Tho sum exceeded expectations. ■<
