0 RESIGNATION OF TIIE GOVERNOR. (DY TEIiEGItAI'H —I'KESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, November 0. Samoan files to haml Jiy tliu Atua to-day state that Governor Solf litis forwarded liis resignation to llio German Government, and that a big demonstration is about to take place in Apia with n view to inducing him to reconsider his decision. "What the Governor has accomplished," says the "Herald" correspondent, "is little short of marvellous. He has increased Gorman prestige, and shown that. Germans can run Colonial enterprises. German trade in Samoa is on the increase, and many' Uritish vessels at present carry part of this trade. It. is to be hoped that the resignation may be withdrawn, as otherwise stormy times may be in storo.for Samoa."
