COMPLIMENTARY CONCERT TO HERR MAX HOPPE.

llerr Max Eoppe,has .just..completed his tenth j'oar of residence in" Wellington. During that, period lie has been intimately associated with musical events .in this city, and has established himself as a general favourite. The leading musicians of Wellington, having decided that the occasion presents a suitable opportunity for publicly acknowledging. Herr Hoppe's high service in the cause of music, met. at ■■the Dresden "rooms yesterday afternoon to make definite arrange-' ments for a complimentary concert in his honour. ' '■■

Mr:-J. W. Joynt presided, and in introducing the business of the meeting, paid a high tributo to Herr Hoppe's musical abilities and personality. Hen- Hoppe had been of very groat,assistance to the Musical Union and the Choral Society, ..and any appeal to his services on .behalf of a deserving object had invariably met with a generous response. Mr. Robert Parker moved that a complimentary concert be tendered to Herr Max lioppa. This was seconded by Mr. J. Maughan Barnctt, and carried unanimously. The following , gentlemen were appointed to act- on the executive committee:-—Messrs. R: Parker, J. Mausrhan Ba.-nett, R H Wcddo. (secretary, of the Liedortafol), S. G Hamerton (secretary: of the Choral Society), A. M. Lewis (secretary of the Musical Union) •J. Dykes (secretary of the Savage Club). The arrangement of the programme was J'ift in the'-hands of , tlio executive committee. Tho general committee' will consist of those to whom circulars conveuino; the. meeting had betm addressed. Mr/'S. G' Hamerton was appointed honorary secretary, and Mr., E. U. Cnclicmaijlc honorary treasurer.

It was arranged that Herr Hoppo should Ik: invited to act on the executive committee Tlie concert will take place at the Town Hall n;i Wednesday. November 27. It was stated that steps would be taken to set m> a committoo..nf. Jadips for. the sale of tickets and the'furtherance of the enterprise generally.
