WEIGHTS REVIEWED. -" Mr. U. Shannon made known his adjustments for the Carterton meeting on Monday morning. , The, nominations received by the Club are, large',' but as there arc a number of meetings oh November 9 it is probable that tho fields will'bo reduced when tho acceptanccs are made next.Friday. .In 1 tho Belvedere Hack, San Julie heads the list with 9st., and on her recent' form she-must be considered. Tupono is a disappointing customer, and Erl King seems to be right out of form., 'Oblivion, with 7st, 71b., reads well, and wore .Lomaria at her best 1 would Jike her, chance with 7st. lib., but as we have seen nothing of ner lately she must' bo left but. There is nothing'of conseqnenco lower: down, and I expect San Julio and Oblivion to be the hardest to beat. I
... There are somo good sprinters in the Rail'way Handicap, for which Full Rate has been ■ allotted ?st.!- and gives .St.. Claimed 21b. If The Officer gelding appears at the meeting | the weight will scarcely stop him, but he'will ! no doubt stay hv tho-South till the conclusion 'of the : Riccartou fixture: Gawain, Bst. Vlb., and.The Stake, :| Bst.. Gib., have, both shown winning form lately, and.Golden Gate, 7st: 71b.,..is nicely, 'weighted. The latter, will,' however, have to, improve on', his Trentham 'display before 1 being considered. Sherlock Holmes,' 7st; ,71b., and Platypus, 7st. 4ib., read.'well> and I, expect the pair to bcat'anything'els'c.ih the field. .; ; ' '.''"'' Te'Kainiii, with'lOst.ilD., looks to be as well treated as anything'.in the Hurdles,- but consequent upon an injury at Opaki, he is not a likely starter. Matakokiri and Royal Blue, have each list. 21b!, : and both should run well! Hurimoaua, list. 21b., is engaged in the Gladstono Welter lower'down; but as he is also liouiinatcd at Wavcrley on the same day lie may not put in, an, appearance. Next to Matakokiri and Royal, Blue, the chances of Black Squall with 9st. 81b. strike me most favourably. The ; rest of the'.'lightweights should .have, no chance with the horses named! '.. "'. : :"

' Polyanthus, -'/st.-' 101b., is not badly 'treated, but as she has-gono home to> Hastings she may not fulfil hor'ongagement. .-. Among the Marnroa's passengers on Monday night were W. Higgms, C. Jenkiiis,' G. Price, and W.' Trice, The latter will ride ■Armistice-in the New Zealand' Cup and Martello in- the Stewards' Han'dicap. " ' .
While Seaman',Vwith'Geo. Price up) '.was 'running a trial last- Saturday morning' he met .'with an accident which'luckily ended without serious 'result' to', the Sylvia' -Park gelding or..his;jockey.: A : .stray" horse had wandered on to the track,. unpcrceived, and Seaman galloped rtght into it and came an awkward cropper. •'Price was thrown ■ into space, but when he ''picked : himself up he found that he' Was none' the worso for the mishap. Seaman'appeared to be all right, but will be given a brief spell.' At the present 'time' it is hard to make him out, but' ke should return to form later on in tho i season. *» Ho had a lot of racing last' year and seemed to thrive on it, so he may require the same treatment this year before his galloping ability comes to light. .
' Sen Sim was shipped to Riccarton\ on Monday and will bo ridden by H. Telford. The chestnut appears to bo well, and should account for at least one of the jumping events. Several other racehorses made the trip on the same evening, among them being Ballarat, ill charge of her trainer, W. Davics. The black mare is to start in the Stewards' Handicap, and will, no doubt, run well, but 1 think the last furlong will find her out. Last year, after. failing in the Stewards' Handicap, she ran well on the concluding' days, and if she has not lost her dash at th} start she may pull off a nice at this meeting. '''■.''.'■
Master Dclaval's good track work has caused him to become a firm favourite for the Now Zealand Cup, and ho has been} backed in doubles with all. the likely candidates in tho' Stewards' Handicap. Aucklanders will not hear of his defeat as they argue he has accomplished everything allotted him in tho past and has never had to do his best. .'
The connections of King Billy look upon tho Morriwee \ horse as sure to run well in the Stewards' Handicap, and Contender's people ■ are, likewise, very much taken with the chances of their representative. The son of Gold Reef was asked to run a trial) before leaving home, and as M'Laughlin knows something about training winners for, the event in question, the "go" was evidently a sKtisl'actory one.
Once again Elevation has been putting up sensational track gallops, and I am afraid'if his trainer is not'very careful that lie will overdo it ; and tho handsome son of San Francisco will go off. When ho raced at Hastings he was 'very forward and di("J not need work, whereas Master Delaval and others were backward. Since his arrival at Riccavton the chestnut has generally worked with Master Delaval, and tho consequence* is that- he has improved the son of Seaton Delaval by cantering him along on tho track. I sincerely trust that Farmer Ims given his charge his final gallop and then ho will have three days in wliich to freshen up again
