In connection with the presentation by Mr. luos. .'Ballinger of a hew 'pennant for iho ' ■ bemor Pennant matches, it .is interesting to ..' note how the pennant lias, been won in past years. rlio original pennant was presented to the Wellington Club by Mr. and Airs. ballinger m 1895, and was won bv the Wellington Club in 189 G. 1697, 1898,'1900, 1302. 1003 IOOi, lTOJiitnd 1906. Newtown was- successful m 1599 and 1901, and the Victoria CI.iO in 190/. In presenting the new pennant Mr. Ballm b -er wrote to ' the, Wellington Bowiinz Centre stating, that, he trusted the competition would be keenly, contested bv all the duns and he would bo extremely pleased if the Hutt - Club could be induced to join in,.as it would '■'. do away with all byes. There was hardly time ' tor, that, to be arranged by October 26, iM.t the Hutt Club, if it entertained the propo*il, might play Kelburno on Saturday next, a-id ' afterwards take up the proper dates. It is understood that the Hutt Club In-, not, wished, to enter,, as■ the. Senior l'ennint match is a four-rink proposition, and t|ie v ' ability of the smaller clubs to produce sixtcji > players of equal .calibre to'thusc who cb'i'd be placed on the green by' the larger cluos, did not exist, but, seeing that Kclburne, Karon, and■• l'otone have entered, the reason does not seem a prohibitive': one, and.. i''l .bowlers, would -like, to see Miv A'rton' Stcvena and his, merry allien playing for the pennant.
