Ross, of Auckland, had boon 'arranged by the Northern Boxing ■Association of Auckland for";aat night, but unforeseen circumstances compelled the management to postpono the fixture.indefinitely. Patrons of, tho sport will be , interested to hear that the Wellington Boxing Association has arranged for t\yo exceptionally attractive curtain-raisers to tho fifteen-round contest between T. Hanley, of Sydney, and J. Godfrey, of Auckland, for the professional feather-weight championship of New Zealand to be decided at the Opera House on November 25. By permission cif Mr. W:'Diniiio, Commissioner of Polico, and in deference to the wishes of many suporters of i'.he Association, and outside patrons, the Executive has made arrangements for Constable A. Skinner and Constable Stevens, of tho Wellington polico staff, to givo a finished exhibition of wrestling.- Constable Skinner's reputation as a wrestler hns oxtended to the Commonwealth States, while Constable Stevens ' has made wonderful progress in the art. It is said that he affords striking proof of. the viiluo of physical culture, the development of musclo and chest expansion in his case having boon romarlcable.- The other preliminary event will bo a sixrround spar between T. Tracy of this city and T. M'Gibbon, who hails from Australia. ]V['Gibbon has excellent credentials as a boxer, and his victims in the roped arena include such capable exponents of the "fistic art" as Joe Walcott, Boh Turner, Len Tniscott, "Ranji" Burns, and "Bull" Nicholls. M'Gibbon is very anxious, to make a good impression on this his first introduction to local followers of the sport. Advices from Auckland are very satisfactory as regards: J. Godfrey's condition for his'big conest with T. Hanley, of Sydney, on November. 25. Godfrey assorts that ho. will bo fitter on tho eventful occasion than he has over been before, and is confident of putting up the exhibition of his lifs. The friands of Hanley', declare that the Englishman will lined to" lie'at his-very best to have a chance of winning the honours. The mill between the pair, promises to produce the finest exposition of boxing ever seen in tho. Dominion. The respective weights at.the ring side will probably be: Godfrey, 9st. lib., Hanley, Bst. 101b. The permit for this closing tourney of the season has been issued to the Wellington Boxing Association by Inspector'Ellison, of the district police staff.
