Mathieson was gharged with having disposed or a gig by chance, the same having-been raffled at the recent bazaar in aid of tlio Terri.ce End' Technical School. Defendant- stated that lie had liiade no gain by the transaction, as the gig was given in aid of a public- body. The Magistrate commented strongly upon the action, and said that not only was defendant liable to a heavy penalty, but : aHo those who. ,hnd purchased tickets.. The prisoner's finger prints had been taken and forwarded to Wellington,'with the result that he was identified as one Madigan, alias Cripps, who had boon before the Courts on similar . charges.
