• Sir, —It would be a calamity to Wellington wore the services of Mr. Ferguson 1 to bo lost to tho Harbour Board. Far beyond this' Dominion the name of Mr. Ferguson has been' heard, and he has accomplished for Wellington is not as fully appreciated by Wellington citizens'generally as it is by eminent visitors to'* this port. : Then Wellington's harbour has made the ; city; ' and, although'the world must go on somehow with tho great men dead and out of'it, that'is all'; ' the more reason why' wo shp'uld secure"tho ' best services of men like Mr. 'Ferguson, who. ~ , is quite a genius as engineer ana executive officer. : On the other band, members of tho Harbour Board' itself.are.easily found, and • men, too, who would appreciate tho work of Mr. Ferguson,' and have no axe to grind by ottering their betters The prosent Board can be replaced, but not in timo, I fear, to repair tho mischief theso members are doing.—l am, etc., CITIZEN. ; Wellington, October 22.
