• ANNUAL SHOW: • . Tho thirtieth animal show' of the Waira--1 rapa and East Coast P. and'A. Society will bo hold, in Carterton on Wednesday and Thursday, November 20 and 21. The Wairarapa show has always been a favourito • fixturo amongst farmers and: stock-breeders, •, and no'effort is spared, by the Society's oxecutivo and its Secretary, Mr. H'. S. Moss, to mako the functions .always - successful. 1 Tho show grounds are situated close to the Carterton railway station, and beautifully appointed for the: purpose. ', , With .grandstands and lawns, tea-rooms, a perfect oval, and excellent luncheon accommodation, visitors receive every consideration, ■ while tlie attention paid by the Society to stock.exhibits is admitted by breeders to-be second i to none in New Zealand., The programme'issued-by the Society this ; year is most attractive. ■ 1 All features, of stock; poultry, and 'industrial exhibits are i catered fori Ring'events include the GlasI gow Challenge ' Cup and £25—the biggest • prize: offered'at any show in the' Wellington 1 Province—and l : buck-jumping.' 1 Tliero are i farm school competitions for schools in the ' South Wairarapa, and live stock judging 1 competitions for those young men in'the'pro- • vince who 'may wish to' emulate their' sires 1 in the requisite'knowledge of'the points of 1 al good beast.'- Sprcial prizes are a feature 1 of the prize list. Theso include' the Glasgow ; Challenge'.Cup, valued at £2o; Mr'. W. E. ■ Bidwill'Js' Challenge Cup, valued at £20, for tho best hack in tho show; the Matowhero !■ 'Estate Challenge Cup, valued at ten guineas, 1 for ladies' hacks; the Qnibell Challenge Cup,' valued at ten guineas, for tho 'most points prize-winner in stud sheep; aiul the Douglas Challenge Cup, also ; valued 'at ten [ guineas, for the winner of tho most'points in Southdowns. !• . The Now Zealand Shecpbreodcrs'* Association | presents a silver shield - for the cliam- ;, pion English Leicester, while' Mr. W. C. ! Buchanan and Mr. H. R. Bunny present a silver shield for farming competitions : amongst the pupils of the Wairarapa schools. In addition, there are five guinea prizes by the President of the 1 Society, Mr. H. M'Phee, and by Mr. W. Howard Booth, and other' specials by Miss Stanley Booth and Messrs Stewart Dawson and Company,' Mr. A. D.' M'Master, and Mr. J. (i. Oatcs. • Intending exhibitors should take,note that ontries will close on Saturday, November 9.
