[ Lord Lorcbum, Lord Chancellor, will shortly marry Violet, eldest. daughtor of Mr. Hicks-Beach, of Gloucester ,and uieco of Viscount St. Aidwyn. i ■ . , Enron Loroburn, formerly Sir Eobert Reid, Liberal member of tho llouso of Commons, and .Attorney-General, was created a life peer ' in 1908, und iu tbo same year took office with . the present Government as Lord Chancellor. An eminent lawyer, ho"was specially decorated for-his services in connection with the Venezuelan Boundary Arbitration Commission. His first wife, whom ho married in 1871,' died in 1901. Ho is Gl years of age. Tho bride's uncle is the eminent 'financier who, after long political Ben-ice to tho' Conservatives as Sir Michael Hicks-Bnach,' was orcntcd by them ' Viscount St.. Aldwyn in ■ 1903.
