The contrivance consists of three, separate machines: ail automantograph, a pneumograph, and a sphygomogruph. The first is attached to tho anil,, and makes .1 record with pencil on paper.! These involuntary writings arc expressions of. the emotions convoyed through the arni.'.Tho: pneumograph, which is a more dclicatjo instrument still, takes a record of the breathing. Every variation from normal breathing due to omotional suggestion is marked by the machine. Each expiration in a word writes its own history. The third machino;; sphygomograph, is fixed to the wrist to' observe tho pulse heats. It takes another re l cord of tho emotions of the heart.
