; Dr. Murray-is now engaged in pursuing tho word "precursors" for tho purposes of his monumental dictionary. It scorns that there was once an Irish party in tho House of Commons-called the ."Precursors." In 1847 the Irish representation at Westminster was divided into 37 Conservatives, 37 Repealers, 17 Whigs, and 12 Precursors. Tho "Times" dogmatically declared Prccursorism to bo "utterly hopeless." Apparently it was a very short-lived party, still Dr. Murray will be very grateful to anybody who can tell him who tho Precursors, wore, what were their principles; and what they were pre-cursing about.
