LAWN TENNIS. TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS. The Management Committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association met ou Wednesday. There were present: — Messrs. R. St. .T. Becro (in the chair), I'\ A. Morris, .T. O'Leary, J. M. Hogbeu, B. Green, C. and A. 11. Kimbell (secretary). . Mr. J. Murray wroto stating that ho had not time to do justice to the tions to which ho had been elected on', tho Management and Sliiold Committees/ and could not, therefore, see his way'to accept tho honour. Mr. A. Pair >'as eleeted to both committees in Mr. ■'Murray's stead. J . Notices woro received of entries for the Association's competitions <as follows:— . ' ' Newtown Club, one team for,fihield and one for cup competitions, the entry for tho cup to be conditional that ,jf, there are more than six entries" ojfly one round of matches shall be played. Petone Club, one tcanvfor, junior cup. Khandallah, one .teaman cup grade. Brougham Ilill, ono shield, and two pennant teams, as well as a team for another grdde- j if formed. , Victoria College, at' least ono shield, one cup, and one pennant team, and a team for a lower grade if,formed. The Johnsonvillei Club will not enter any team, owing to: the' lack... of lady plavers willing to trave1.,;,.:.,.// Mr. G. A. Hurley was appointed to take charge of the Day's Bay ground, and look after the interests "of the Association as far as management is concerned. A 'motion ■ that clubs .bo asked to contribute to' tho cost of the ground in tlic same proportion 1 , as'.last year was negatived in view of tho present prosperous stato ofitho .Association's finances.• • Messrs.: Morris and Beere i-wero apnoiuted a sub-committee to; draft, rules ior a new constitution arid by-laws;-. ■ Mr. Morris thought that .it would extend interest in tennis if the tournament were held this year.in one of the provincial towns. Ho moved that' tho secretary make inquiry whether any of the Manawatu clubs would undertake the management. of the tournament. Mr. Green thought that tho Association was under- virtual obligation to tho Day's Bay Ferry Company to hold, tlic tournament at the Bay this year._ He moved as an amendment that this be lone. A,motion to hold tjie handicap meeting and championships at New Year,.was carried, defeating a proposal for separation of the events. The dates were fixed ■for December 31, January. 1 and-2.
