JOHN CARVELL WILLIAMS. By Telegraph-Press Association. London, October 9. Obituary: John Carvoll Williams, Chairman of the Liberation Society. LORD SAYE AND SELE. [John Carvell Williams, born in 1821, represented South Nottingham as a Liberal .in- the House of Commons in 1885, was defeated next year, represented Maiwfield (Nottingham) in 1892, and again in 1895, and retired in IDOO. He was for thirty • years secretary to the Society for the Liberation of Religion from State Patronago and Control. [Lord Saye' and Sole was born in 1830. He was twenty-first' in descent from Geoffrey de Saye, who opposed King John, und was one of ' tho twenty-five barons entrusted with the enforcement of Magnil Charts. The oighth in descent was Joan', who mnrriod. Sir William i'iennes, whose grandson became first baron. Tho latter, when a prisoner in the Towor, was dragged out by Jack Code's mob and was beheaded in Cheapflide, 1451. Tho second baron landed with Edward IV whon the latter was preparing to regain tho Crown, but fell at Barnet in. 1471. The eighth baron was a Commissioner for the Public Safety in the time of Charles I, a*nd a distinguished parliamentarian.]
