DON'T FLING IT ASIDE.
The annual report of tho Department of Agriculture will bo in your hands a few days hence. It is to bo specially interesting and instructive. Don't put it by on the shelf till tomorrow. Sit down." right hero " and start reading it. How many departmental reports have you put oil that shelf and never looked at again? New Zealand is paying away thousands of pounds, every year—partly out of your pocket—to feed and clotho tho very moil who write in that report. Several dozens of brains have been active this year in mat-tors that concern you, ■ and possibly you never meet the owner of one of them—except when you grow some noxious weeds. So, unless you read their works, as bound in the annual report, you will get no good out of your part of the expense, and, perhaps—in your opinion—only ovil. The report should be in tho hands of all of us next week. We shall look to see tho verdict of the experimental farms as to the. bost potato, the most effective manurial mixturo, the best spraying specific, the grass tests, the dairy experiments, and the correct method of dealing with the newest obscure diseaso of stock. Each of these-things means money to some farmer. One hint gleaned from five minutes' reading in some easyhacked chair after the cows are all milked may double your,.profit, next year.. Wo have heard of men who put the annual report on the shelf till to-morrow, and then so thoroughly forget all about it as to writo to tho Department complaining that it had not reached thorn. Lot this not bo said of you.
