The sum of £470 was taken in electric car fares over all tho city'and suburban tram-lines on Dominion Day. Though a very largo sum indeed, tho takings did not constituto a record, that distinction being held by Easter Monday (April 1), when £475 represented the'day's fares. Two days previously—Easter Saturday—£4sß was taken, and on April 20, 1907, £466 resulted. Boxing Day and Christmas Eve, 1906, are next on tho list with £423 and £425 respectively, but since thon tho Karori and Miramar lines have been opened. With these lines and the-one tv. Scatnim doing business r.omo new records should easily ho established during the summer, now all too reluctantly approaching.
