Federal Tariff.

A PROTEST. PREFERENCE OR PROTECTION? By ,Telegraph.—Association— Copyright. (Received September 27, 10.55 p.m.) London, September 27.. A large meeting of the Australasian section of tho London Chamber of Commerce, ,and others interested, adopted tho following resolutions :— That this meeting protests' against the imposition of further/' duties, on British goods, which, despite the financial support recorded to Australian industries l>y merchants and investors; will seriously harm manufacturing industries in tho United Kingdom.

That the preference given to British goods, although small, is thankfully received, iii the hope that it will shortly be increased. That the sudden levying of now duties, especially on goods bought before the new tariff became operative, will cause considerable inconYeuipnce and loss, both.in Australia and Great Britain, unless the time of levying is postponed.
