The Question: For several hours the sergeant-major had been lecturing the men on the duty of a soldier towards bis country. Thinking it time to see how much they bad understood of his discourse, he fixed on Private Jones and barked out: "And why should a soldier count it an honor to die for his country?” The man paused to think for a few seconds. Then a smile broke over his face. "Yes, sir,” be said, "why should lie?” Customer; “Confound it. waiter, when am I to have those potatoes?” Waiter: "Directly, sir. They’re coming up.” Customer; "Coming up! 1 should think, by this time, they’re running to seed.”
