l iit Cattle—There »\as a fair sized entry, 240 being penned. These consisttd principally of mixed quality; only a small proportion of prime heavy cattie being forward. There was very poor competition and prices shewed no improvement on last sale. Prime heavy bullocks to /,8 17s 6d. prime £6 12s 6d to £7 12 s 6d, medium £.3 2s 6d to £.4 17s Cd, prime cows and heifers to ,£5 12s 6d. medium £3 2s 6d to £gj 7s 6d. light from £2 upwards. Fat Sheep—There was a fair sized entry, 2.000 hemg penned. The hulk of Liu yarding consisted of light to medium quality ewes with a few trucks of prime wethers. The market was dull and prices all round wfc-re easier by about is 6d per head {in last sale's rates. [extra prime heavy 'natchers wetliers to iSs. prime heavy 13s 6d to 16s, light (>s Od to 13s, extra - ' prime heavy ewes to ios. prime 7s to r;s, medium gs 6d to 6s. Fat Lambs—There was a small yarding, 1,000 being penned. These consisted mostly of medium quality, exporters were operating at reduced schedule and prices showed a decline of is 6d per head on last sale’s rates. F.xtra prime heavy lamhs to 15s 6d, prime 11s 6d to 13s, medium qs 6d to10s 6d. light 7s 6d to qs. pigs—There was a fairly large entry of fat pigs and prices for bacon pigs were firmer. Porkers, however, showed no improvement. Store pigs wore also easier. Oats.—No new season’s oats have been offering in this district so far and nominal values are for ‘A’ grade Cartons up to 1- 6d per bushel. Wheat—Threshing is now becoming general in Central Otago and samples are coining to hand more freelv. Millers will take anv samples suitable at schedule rates. Chaff.—Sufficient is coming forward to nrct the local demand, and the onlv innuiry is for prime bright oaten sheaf, which is bringing up to £3 ios ex store Dunedin.
