Mr |. Symes, manager for the "-'■]' nisTT Point Company, arrived in Cromwell on Thursday. A start was at once made overhauling the pumps and the electrical appliances. This will occupy a day or two but pumping' should he in hand with little delay. Although he has been engaged in distant parts for some time, Mr Symes is no stranger to these parts, being some years ago a resident of Alexandra. Incidentally he once installed an hydraulic plant just above the lower Lindis gorge for an Alexandra syndicate. In him, the company has the services of a man with a thorough knowledge of alluvial mining.
