Lodge Meeting
The installation of Officers of Rose of Kawarau and Kawarau Lodges was held in Roberts' Hall on April 28th. The ceremony was conducted by D.D.G.M. Bro>. Lloyd Williams and suite, assisted by P.L.D.D.G.M. Sis. Moore in a very impressive manner. Bro Williams was first installed into the office of D.D.G.M. by P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Nelson and Bro. After the ceremony the usual banquet was held, about 200 members being- present, including visitors from Vincent and" \\ •• i.edges. Tho tables, to correspond with tho hall, were bcatuifully decorated with flowers and streamers. The following toasts were honoured; "The King," proposed by Bio. 1. Mastic; "Grand Lodge," proposed by Bro. F. Par-\ tridge, and responded to by Bro. Crooke; "D.D.G.M. and Suite," proposed bv Sis. 1.. [;vrchful, responded to by Bro. Williams; "P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Nelson," proposed by Bro. 1. Hastje, responded t.» by Bio. Nelson; "inMailed Officers," proposed by Sis. Scott, responded ■ • ivy Sis. Kajthfii} and Bro. Hastie; "The Visitors," proposed by Bro. R. B. Bowie, responded to l>y iN.G.'s of visiting bodges.
A feature of the evening was the presentation ot two Past Ci rand's Diplomas to F.G.'a Sis. D. Stephens and Sis. M. Brown, by Grand Secretary Bro. \Y. F. Crooke. Both Sisters suitably ' replied. Bro. Crooke then congratulated the Lodge on its splendid work and gave a short address on Oddfellowship. Pancing was indulged in until the early hours of the mqrnjng, whjn the happy function was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." On Wednesday evening several Sisters and Brethren travelled to Alexandra to attend the Vincent T.odge Installation, which was carried out by Bro. \V. 11. Nelson and Suite. The following- Saturday the Kawarau Lodges joined with the Vincent Lodge in accepting- an invitation to Wakatipu Installation.
