Lodge Meeting
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Juvenile Lodge was hold uii the 2nd inst., a good attendance of, brothren greeting; the 2\.G.. Bro. McNamara. The members of the Quoit team were eacii the recipients of a handsome pocket-book given by the Juvenile Council lor the winners of the competition. In the "hard up" dress party hist honours were equally divided between Bros. Lethbridge and A. Wilson, it being a difficult task for the judges to come to a decision. After an enjoyable meeting- the boys dispersed for home. The presiding officer, Bro. Price, was greeted by a largo attendance of members on the night of the regular meeting of Loyal Cromwell Lodge, Sick pay and accounts were passed for payment and the usual formalities of the evening were duly conducted. The chief business was the arrangements for u visit to the Loyal Queen of Maniototo Lodge. At the conclusion of the meeting the usual light refreshments- were heartily enjoyed. The N.G. declared next Lodge meeting- a summoned meeting, business financial.
OFFICIAL VISIT. On .Saturday, 3rd hist., some 15 to jo members of the Cromwell Manchester Cnity paid an official visit to tho Loyal Queen of Maniototo Lodge at Ranfurly, where they were very heartily received by the N.G. and Sisters. The meeting, which was held in the Ranfurly Hall, proved to be a huge success, thero being visitors from Loy al Maniototo, Loyal Naseby. and Upper Clutha and Kakanui, as well as Loyal Cromwell. On behalf of Loyal Cromwell the .N.G., Bro, Price, and Bro. Clarkson suitably responded to the second toast and at the same time extended a hearty invitation to the Loyal. Queen of Maniototo Lodge to pay Cromwell an official visit in the near future. Aft the conclusion of the meeting the brethren were entertained at a social function in the form of a dance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, as ajxci wn* the supper to which the, Sl»*ers dutifully carried their duties as hostesses in acting as- escorts to the visiting- brethren (some of the brethren showing considerable eagerness to be 'esco(u)rted.") On Sunday morning- the brethren were conveyed by car to the Waipiata Sanatorium where a verv pleasant hour was spent, returning to Ranfurly in time for lunch, after which the departure for home terminated a most enjoyable and successful visit.
