Earthquake Relief Fund
In response to several requests, and in light of the offer of a number of handsome donations towards a fund for relief of distress following the earthquakes on the West Coast, we haVe, after consultation; with the Mayor, decided to open a list for subscriptions. These will be; acknowledged through our columns, and the monev handed to the town clerk, to be held in trust by the Council, until its disposal is decided on. It is considered advisable to have one big fund for the town in preference to a number of small lists. We will also post the list daily at our office, to show the donation's as they come to hand. We will be pleased to receive and acknowledge any donations forthwith.
