Banhockburn made a good start early in the season by defeating Clyde in a Shield match played on November 19th, by eleven points—--62 51. The game was played at Bannockburn. The Roxburgh Bowlers played their first, match against Cromwell on the local green on Saturday, iqth inst. (says the "Mail"), the game reisult.ng in a decisive win for the Roxbu d 1 players. The local players secured wins in three rinks, while Cromwell won the "other. The visitors brought down some very solid rinks and the local players art to be congratulated on the fine performance fhey put up. It is a long time now since the local club has secured a victory over the Cromwell Club; in fact it is also a long time now since they had their last win in a Centre match, and now that their luck has changed it is hoped they \vill once again prove themselves worthy opponents in the Central Otag'o Centre matches.
