In spite of the high cost of living (in some cases, perhaps, on account of it) there are still many •wealthypeople in Britain. More folk are drawing incomes of over £SOO a year to-day than before the war. The assessments of the Inland Revenue Commissioners show that 29,723 persons receive more than £3,000 a year. About half of these have between 5,000 and £IO,OOO. Other figures are as follows : From £IO,OOO to £15,000, 2,579 people. £15,000 ~ £20,000, 1,084 ~ £20,000 „ £25,000, 608 ~ ~ £25,000 ~ £30,000, 326 „ £30,000 ~ £40,000, 330 £40,000 ~ £50,000, 163 „ £50,000 ~ £75,000, J6l £75,000 ~ £IOO,OOO, 69 Ninety-five persons will have to pay income-tax on incomes above £IOO,000.
