DUNEDIN, This Day. The street collection in aid of the Soldiers Club Building Fund realised ' £4OO. The Auckland butchers strike over. Some returned to work on Saturday, and the remainder return to-day. ' The Prime Minister denounces the '' report that Mr Jones, the Democratic Liberal for Ashburton, was asked to retire by Howard Elliott in favor of Mr Nosworthy, when all his expenses would be paid and his name favorably considered for a seat in the Council.
