Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd, report for week ended Monday, September 15th, as follows : Oat : —There has been a good enquiry of late but the quantity changing hands is not extensive. The transport restrictions are one of Ihe principal factors in retarding business. Seed lines continue in good demand. We quote :—Prime milling -Is 3d, good to best teed 4s Id to 4s 2d, medium to good 3s 9d to 4s, inferior from 3s 3d per bushel, (sacks extra.) Wh ea t :—Very little wheat of any description is coming forward owing to the railway restrictions. Those millers who have stocks on hand are unable to comply with the regulations. Fowl wheat is not so plentiful, and meets ready sale at from (is to «3s 3d per bushel, sacks extra.
Potatoes :—The market continues to be supplied from Canterbury and Northern Districts. The quantity arriving is ample for requirements. The demand is not quite so keen and sales are becoming more difficult to effect at late values. Chjiee freshly picked lines are the only description in'denianl, faulty or lines re. quiring picking are almost neglected. We quote-.—Best freshly picked tables £lO 10s to fill, good tables £lO to £lO 10s, medium from £8 per ton, (sacks Chaff :—The quantity coming furward at present is fully up to requirements, which are not heavy owing to feeders having supplies on hand. Medium quality and light lines are in over supply, and difficult to quit on arrival. We quote :—Best oaten sheaf £b" 15s to £7, fair to good £6 to £6 10s. medium £4 10s to £5 10s per ton, (sacks extra).
