Obituary.
Ja-mks MAftsii.Uih, - Aged 82 years. We regret to record the death of another of the fast diminishing hand of old pioneers, in James Marshall, at tlie advanced age of 82 years. The deceased was a native of Ilfracombe, England, and anived in this district in the early sixties and engaged in mining at Bannockburn for many years, doing vciy well. He then re. moved to Cromwell and started busi ness as mining agent and account ant, acting as secretary for several of the early reeling companies on the Garrick Range and also for the owners of the Bendigo mine when these properties wore securing large returns. Thedtccas d was also town clerk for many years, and secretary to the Ciomwell Hospital and Jockey Club, besides a number of other positions during his long stay in Cromwell. He was of a genial and most unassuming nature and was universally respected. He retired from the mining agency only about a y ear ago, ai d shortly afterwards had a complete breakdown in health, He leaves a wife and a large grown up family in mourn his Iras. A number of members- of the Masonic Lodge afended the funeral at the New Cemetery on Friday also a number of the old friends of the decea cd. The burial service was conducted by Rev. W. Fitchett, and a Mascnl: service was also held.
