Bannockburn Notes.
(Fhom Ouh Own Cokuesposdbnt.) Although we have beon very fortunate in escaping the epidemics which have been going round the district for some eon.sider.ible time, we have not missed the influenza, people being laid down with it on all sides, and in some cases it is in a very severe form. Since the breaking up of the frost bunny has been taking the poison well in this part and some good tallies are being got. The Quadrille Assembly had a very successful dance for their wind-up. A very large number were out from Cromwell which was responsible for the success of the danc\ as a I a renumber of the loc il dancers were tillable to be present through sickness A. special word of praisj is due to the energetic secretary, Mr Muntz, who had everything in first class order. Mr W. Ritchie carried out the duties of M.C in a satisfactory manner, and Miss Graham supplied good music. Quite a number of the local young men have made their way over to the Nevis for the working season. It seems to be the happy hunting grounds when out of work. Mr Jas. Lewis, who has been manager of the (Jairnmuir Coal Co. for some considerable time has left the employ of the company.
